What is musculoskeletal physiotherapy?
Assessment and treatment of muscle, joint, and soft-tissue injuries — from neck and back pain to sporting injuries.
MSK physiotherapy is the bread and butter of our practice. Whether it's an old injury that won't settle or a new one that's stopping you training, we'll work out what's driving it and build a plan to fix it.
How musculoskeletal physiotherapy works at Pegasus Peak
We take a full history, run movement, strength and orthopaedic tests, and reach a working diagnosis. From there we combine hands-on treatment with progressive loading to drive real change, and stage your recovery clearly — from settling pain to a full return to sport or work.
Key benefits of musculoskeletal physiotherapy
- Gets to what is actually driving your neck, back or limb pain
- Combines hands-on treatment with the loading that creates lasting change

Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy FAQs
Do I need a referral to see an MSK physio?
No — you can book directly. A referral is only needed for Medicare (CDM), Workers Compensation, CTP or NDIS-funded care.
Is it covered by private health, Medicare or WorkCover?
Yes to all three. We offer HICAPS on the spot, bulk-billing on eligible CDM plans, and handle WorkCover and CTP paperwork.
What is the difference between seeing an MSK physio and my GP?
Your GP manages you medically; a musculoskeletal physiotherapist diagnoses and treats the movement problem itself with hands-on therapy and a loading plan.
Do I need a scan first?
Usually not. Most musculoskeletal conditions are diagnosed clinically, and we will only recommend imaging if it would genuinely change your treatment.
How many sessions will I need?
It depends on the injury, but we give you a clear plan with an expected number of sessions and milestones at your first visit.
